About

Thompson Court is a small, supportive service for up to three adults with Mental Health needs. We are dedicated to helping people lead active, fulfilling lives by creating an environment that values individual beliefs, personal choices, and aspirations.

Our focus is on promoting independence, developing coping strategies, and enabling people to integrate confidently into their local community. We understand that each person’s journey is different, which is why our support is completely person-centred and outcomes-focused, ensuring everyone retains choice and control over their lives.

Our Approach

We tailor our support to meet the unique needs of each individual. Thompson Court offers a calm, supportive environment that promotes both mental and physical wellbeing. We help people to maintain their identity, rebuild self-confidence, and develop the skills to manage their mental health and prevent relapse.

We:

  • Encourage independence at every opportunity

  • Help individuals develop and apply their own coping techniques

  • Promote positive wellbeing and resilience

  • Support emotional and behavioural regulation

A Positive Story: JS

“I’ve lived at Thompson Court for two and a half years. Since joining, my confidence has grown so much. The support I’ve received has helped me become more independent, especially with cooking, cleaning, and going to the shops on my own. I’m proud of how far I’ve come.”

The Manager

Registered Manager Lacey Stait has always been passionate about helping others, studying Applied Social Studies in Social Care at University and achieving a B.A in this area. She also holds QCF LEVEL 3 in Health & Social Care, Level 4 in Step Up to Management, Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Social Care and is a certificated PBM ABMU trainer, utilising this learning when developing support plans for and upskilling the staff team.

Lacey has worked in care for 11 years, starting in learning disability before working in the mental health sector. She believes that by doing our job well, we can change lives and because of this, she takes her role very seriously. As a manager, Lacey seeks to lead by example and through mutual respect with staff and the people we support.

The Team

The staff team share the same motivations, consistently seeking opportunities to work with others to improve their quality of life, build on areas of independence and manage risks safely. We recognise the benefits that supportive family and friends can bring to a holistic view of support, as well as the internal and external professionals involved, and we empower residents to make decisions over the care and support they receive.

The team strive to be proactive and adaptive to individual changing needs, with the goal of minimising these needs at a person-centred pace and working towards increased independent living, with a pathway towards supported living where possible.

Compatibility within the service is a huge priority, as residents do not always have the choices that we do regarding where to live, we want to maximise the opportunity for harmonious living and positive relationships and role modelling with the service.
