About
Eilat is a clinically led rehabilitation and longer term support service specialising in the support and treatment of adults with acquired brain injury and degenerative neurological conditions, promoting inclusion, wellbeing and choice for all.
We provide expert focused, goal directed rehabilitation and longer term care within a residential setting and where appropriate determine needs for reintegrating individuals into the community. This is achieved by a graded exposure to aid preparation, learning and practicing of strategies to support transition and to provide recommendations for independent living. We also have access to a Dorset supported living service that can offer seamless transition to a more independent care setting.
Eilat provides a goal focussed and person centred approach that ensures that the individual is involved at every stage of the process using structured individual targets.
Facilities and Local Amenities
Eilat is a welcoming and homely detached property set in a residential area in Charminster, Bournemouth. The home has shared and private living areas and a spacious garden area which means rehabilitation activities can be undertaken in a variety of settings.
Bedrooms are spacious and offer the privacy of an en-suite shower room. The ground floor bedrooms are designed to meet the needs of people with mobility difficulties. Adaptations can be made to meet individual needs.
The home has two communal lounges and two separate dining areas. Individuals are involved in creating their own menus, shopping for food and preparing their meals.
We have a spacious rear garden where we have facilities for an organic vegetable patch, and composting areas.
The home is situated close to local amenities, cafés and restaurants. The local bus service operates from a bus stop 50 yards from the home enabling access to all local areas. A leisure centre is also situated nearby.
The Support we Provide
Working closely with individuals, their families, the community brain injury team, and other local services we ensure all individuals are supported to achieve the best quality of life.
We achieve this through the use of individual support plans enabling people to maximise their potential wherever possible.
With our own Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist we are able to offer evidence based assessment and treatment programmes designed to meet the complex needs of the individual. This also involves close collaboration with other clinical specialists to enable multidisciplinary working.
An emphasis is made on community integration, and vocational opportunities with strong links with Headway Dorset and the local NHS community brain injury team.
Individuals have access to a wide range of individual and group opportunities both within the home and outside which are designed to meet both their needs and preferences.
Rehabilitation and maximising independence will often occur in real world settings, such as visits to nearby shops and amenities, travelling on public transport or going on excursions in the local area.
Through assessment and involvement of the individual and their family and/or key representatives in goal setting, the team work closely to enable the individual to be involved in re-learning life skills such as cooking, shopping, budgeting and accessing public transport. Leisure and recreational opportunities also remain an integral part of each person’s life and we focus on re-establishing a positive routine and creating a healthy work/life balance.
Our skilled team comprises of the Home Manager, the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and an experienced team of highly motivated and professional rehabilitation support staff. We are committed to employing experienced rehabilitation support workers who can evidence a person centred approach, commitment, enthusiasm, self-motivation and a willingness to undertake training to enhance existing skills and knowledge.
All staff have or are working to a minimum NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care. The Registered Manager has QCF 5 qualifications in Health & Social Care and Leadership and Management.
Putting the Individual First
Person centred planning and approaches are central to our service delivery and everyone we support is fully involved. Everyone living here plays a large part in the development of the service, how it looks, how it feels and how it operates.
We focus on the individual and their needs and choices remain at the heart of all of our therapies and activities. Our staff will encourage and motivate people without compromising their privacy or dignity and enable them to increase their own levels of independence. Each person living at Eilat has differing activities and routines which are individual to their personal aspirations and choices.
