About

At Woodlands, we support up to six individuals with Autism and Mental Health needs, helping them lead fulfilling, autonomous lives. Our holistic, person‑centred approach focuses on developing practical coping techniques that bring real improvements to everyday routines. By tailoring care to each person’s goals, we promote independence, choice, and long‑term well‑being.

Our Approach

  • Recovery Star Framework: Guides our assessment and care planning, tracking progress in life skills, social networks, and self‑confidence.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: We partner with psychologists, psychiatrists, and specialist teams (including the Diabetic Clinic and Cyber Spider) to deliver comprehensive, outcome‑focused care.

  • Active Participation: Residents co‑create their own support plans, ensuring their voice drives every decision.

  • Open‑Door Culture: With seven staff per shift and two wake‑nights, help is always available in our warm, homely setting.

Accommodation & Facilities

  • Spacious Kitchen: Fully equipped for residents to prepare meals, with personal storage areas and large fridge‑freezer.

  • Communal Lounges: Two ground‑floor lounges (one leading to a covered smoking area) plus a serene outdoor garden.

  • Bedrooms & Ensuite Bathrooms: One ground‑floor bedroom; four first‑floor bedrooms sharing a bathroom; one second‑floor bedroom; all with ensuite facilities.

  • Additional Spaces: Dedicated medication room, staff sleep‑in room, and lift access for comfort and accessibility.

Location & Community

Good News

  • Digital Safety & Independence: A resident with high‑functioning autism mastered safe online use, began college, and now independently navigates community life.

  • Health & Daily Living: Another resident weaned off antipsychotic medication, improved self‑care, and is preparing for independent living.

  • Managing Complex Conditions: A resident with type 1 diabetes and schizophrenia enhanced his understanding, now attends medical appointments confidently and enjoys richer social connections.
