About
The Haven provides specialist support for 14 adults with Mental Health needs, Acquired Brain Injuries, Learning Disabilities, and Physical Health needs. We encourage and motivate each person to feel good about themselves and support them to gain confidence, pursue what matters to them, and ultimately lead happy, fulfilled lives. Everyone supported at The Haven has a voice about what matters in their lives, and our support is focused on ensuring that their voice is heard in every aspect of their care. We view active support as a key measure of how involved people are in shaping their own lives.
Person-Centred Planning & Outcome-Focused Support
We provide positive, flexible, and encouraging support for everyone. Our person-centred approach enables people to achieve their goals and aspirations. Staff work with each individual to create a person-centred plan that reflects how they want to live now and in the future. Using a range of communication tools, we ensure everyone is actively involved in developing their plan.
For some, we use the Recovery Star Model, an outcomes-based tool recognised by the Department of Health. This helps us support recovery by measuring progress in areas such as managing mental health, enhancing living skills, building social networks, and increasing self-esteem to maximise independence.
Our staff are also trained in the Active Support Model, which promotes involvement in every aspect of life through planned interventions and mentoring. This outcomes-focused tool helps us monitor progress toward maximised participation.
Our Clinical Support Team
Our experienced staff are supported by specialist advisors including an Autism Advisor, Clinical Support Team, Acquired Brain Injury Advisor, and Behavioural Advisors. They work collaboratively with staff to develop and review support plans and introduce proactive strategies. They assist during times of extreme challenge or crisis. Additional consultancy support from Psychiatry, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) is available as required.

"I’m always very busy doing lots of different activities like boxing and football. I have a great relationship with the staff, and what’s great is that there is someone suited to help me with each of the different activities I do.”
