About
Taith Cartref supports 13 adults with complex Mental Health needs, Learning Disabilities, and Autism. Our mission is to provide personalised, professional care built on respect and a deep understanding of each individual. We celebrate everyone’s uniqueness and tailor our support to meet their specific needs.
Our Approach
We know that mental health challenges can make daily life difficult. At Taith Cartref, we turn those challenges into opportunities for growth and hope.
With our extensive experience, we’ve learned that combining compassionate support with a positive attitude and a strong focus on recovery leads to real, meaningful change.
We follow the Recovery Model, using tools like the Recovery Star to help people work towards their goals and aspirations. Our service offers a clear pathway: from a step-up flat, to residential care, and then to independent living in our studio apartments — supporting individuals every step of the way.
We support people who may:
-
Have complex mental health needs
-
Be Autistic or have Learning Disabilities
-
Be stepping down from forensic, secure, hospital, or prison settings
-
Be under sections of the Mental Health Act (7, 17, 25a, 37, 37/41, 117)
-
Have a personality disorder
-
Be subject to Community Treatment Orders (CTO) or Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
-
Be subject to MAPPA (Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements)
Accommodation
Our main house has nine en-suite bedrooms, a large shared kitchen, dining room, lounge, and a mindfulness area. Outside, there’s a peaceful patio with a summer house for relaxing.
We also have two self-contained flats with independent entrances, fully wheelchair accessible with kitchens and wet rooms. These flats offer intensive staffing for those in crisis or ongoing need, or lighter support with 24-hour availability.
Our two studio apartments provide a step towards independence within a supported environment. These private spaces allow staff to deliver coaching and skill-building, helping residents develop life skills safely in a semi-independent setting.
Success Story: Jan’s Journey
When Jan* first arrived, she was held back by anxiety and shyness, struggling to understand both her illness and the importance of her daily medication.
With the consistent support of her key worker, Jan* gradually built trust and developed a clearer understanding of her health. She learned to manage her medication independently and safely — a significant step toward self-reliance.
Jan* also overcame her fear of travelling alone. She learned to navigate buses and trains independently— a remarkable achievement in her journey toward independence.
Today, Jan* is thriving in her own tenancy within the community. Her transformation from a timid newcomer to a confident young woman living independently is truly inspiring.
