About
Kemble House supports 15 people with Learning Disabilities and Autism to develop their skills and work towards living fulfilling, independent lives. We collaborate closely with family, friends, local authorities, and advocates to create individualised care plans tailored to each person’s unique needs and aspirations.
We encourage everyone we support to embrace their individuality and gain awareness of their disability, empowering them to overcome challenges and strive for greater achievements.
Our Approach
At Kemble House, our primary goal is to deliver the highest quality care that promotes health, happiness, and personal growth. We focus on strengths—what people can do—and how to build upon these abilities. By seeing the world through their eyes, we truly understand each individual’s goals and dreams.
We support people to take calculated risks and explore innovative ways to achieve their ambitions safely.
Our dedicated Autism Discussion Group, held monthly, invites participation in conversations about living with Autism and its impact on individuals and those around them.
We also offer a tranquil Reflexology room for one-to-one sessions designed to help calm the mind and body, fostering relaxation and reflection.
Education is a key priority. We encourage people to pursue learning and work opportunities that boost self-esteem, confidence, and community involvement. Through partnerships with organisations such as Mencap, Resources4Autism, and St Joseph’s College, many at Kemble House are engaged in part-time courses in computers, art, and photography.
Social connection is vital. Our weekly social club provides a friendly space for people to meet others, build friendships, and enjoy a positive social lifestyle that enhances well-being.
Our Focus
At Kemble House, we are committed to supporting the people we serve to succeed in their ambitions. Our staff receive ongoing training to stay current with the latest policies and best practices. We offer professional development opportunities, including qualifications like QCFs and specialist Autism courses at Birmingham University.
Positive Outcomes
Many people at Kemble House attend college courses they have chosen themselves, with excellent feedback. Volunteering opportunities are widely available, and some have maintained jobs for years, independently travelling via public transport.
We celebrate personal dreams coming true—from trips to France to Caribbean cruises, supported by staff, these enriching experiences are encouraged and becoming more frequent.
Autism Profiles
Kemble House embraces a clear vision: making every day amazing. We are dedicated to helping people develop real-life skills to live more independently.
Our Autism Profiles are uniquely tailored to each individual, recognising that no two people are the same. Risk assessments and support plans are personalised to identify the best ways to help each person flourish and progress.
Accommodation
Kemble House is a listed building offering 15 en-suite rooms with 24-hour staff support, ensuring help is always available when needed. We have a fully equipped flat for a single person to live as independently as possible, with staff support as required.
Our home spans two floors, featuring a kitchen, dining room, lounges, and garden. We operate two company vehicles, and the location in Barnet provides excellent local transport links, offering convenient access to Central London and surrounding areas.
Case Study
A recently arrived eighteen-year-old was initially extremely anxious. With support from our clinical team and dedicated staff, he has settled well at Kemble House. His progress has been remarkable, and he is now preparing to enrol at the local art college this September.
Despite some challenging moments, staff created a secure and welcoming environment, transforming his experience. Everyone involved is very proud of his journey and achievements.
