About

Ffordd Newydd is a residential transitional mental health service supporting six individuals in their own self-contained studio apartments. We are passionate about enabling people to make their own choices about the support they receive. Our dedicated team focuses on improving the health and wellbeing of those we support, working collaboratively to build positive outcomes.

We provide person-centred support designed to promote independence and meet each individual’s unique needs. Through an outcome-focused approach, we empower people to maintain choice and control over their own lives.

Positive Outcomes

We have a strong track record of helping people move on to more independent models of support. To date, seven individuals have successfully transitioned to independence. Each person has a personalised plan developed in partnership with them, our staff team, and our Supported Living team. Together, they ensure the plan is tailored to individual needs, supporting a smooth pathway towards independence.

We work alongside people to build their futures and increase personal empowerment by supporting access to training, volunteering, education, and employment opportunities where possible. Everyone is encouraged to engage with their local community, develop new skills, and reconnect with previously lost abilities.

We actively promote wellbeing and encourage individuals to be as independent as possible. We empower people to develop coping strategies to manage their emotions and behaviours within a safe, homely, and supportive environment.

Transitional Support Model

Our specialist support model provides a carefully planned and risk-managed pathway towards independence within a residential setting. This approach has proven successful in facilitating rehabilitation-focused transitions from residential services to independent or community-supported living.

Progression Pathway — Studio Apartments

Our six studio apartments offer a clear progression pathway within a residential support setting. This pathway fosters self-development and personal growth, regardless of complex health and social care needs.

The apartments provide private spaces where staff can offer skill development or coaching sessions. Residents can trial independence with 24-hour staffing available to support life skills development.

Our semi-independent transition studio apartments enable those who wish to live more independently to take their first steps towards greater independence within a safe, risk-managed environment.

Our Approach

We recognise that everyone’s journey is unique, so we tailor our support to meet individual needs. We provide an environment that supports mental and physical wellbeing, helping people maintain their identity, rebuild self-confidence, and manage their mental health and relapse.
