About
At Eynesbury House, we support people with a dual diagnosis of Autism or a mild Learning Disability. We provide a unique home-from-home environment that is both comfortable and supportive, helping individuals develop the essential life skills needed to live fulfilling, independent lives. We believe that with the right support, everyone can realise their potential and gain maximum control over their future.
Our diverse staff team brings a range of creative and innovative ideas, alongside unique skill sets, all focused on empowering the people we support. We prepare them for employment, extra-curricular activities, and education, recognising and nurturing the qualities and abilities each person possesses that can lead to future success.
We take a person-centred and Autism-friendly approach for everyone we support. Staff encourage individuals to develop self-awareness and a deeper understanding of their Autism, allowing us to build on the strengths and gifts their Autism brings while reducing challenges they may face.
Our Approach
At Eynesbury House, we focus not on limitations but on abilities and how to enhance them. Everything we do is driven by enthusiasm, empathy, understanding, and commitment. We promote individuality and free thinking, supporting each person to understand their diagnosis and develop coping strategies to manage anxieties, reducing the frequency and severity of challenging behaviours.
We strive to see the world through each person’s eyes, ensuring we truly understand their goals and aspirations. We encourage people to take measured risks and find innovative ways to safely achieve their dreams.
Each individual works closely with their keyworker to discuss likes, interests, goals, and aspirations. These might include starting a college course, gaining employment, learning to cook, or building confidence to go to the shops. Staff support people in achieving their goals using tools such as social stories and education on social rules, body language, and facial expressions.
Positive Outcomes
Our positive and encouraging approach has led to many successes. Individuals currently access training, volunteering, extra-curricular activities, college courses, and where possible, employment opportunities. On average, every year someone moves on to greater independence—whether into their own flat or back home.
Witnessing people grow into mature, confident, and independent individuals is a proud moment for everyone involved. This success is largely thanks to the ongoing support and dedication of our unique and committed staffing team.
Autism Focused
Eynesbury House implements a proactive Autism Strategy that promotes independence and positive experiences. Staff support individuals to manage and accept themselves as autistic, recognising their unique strengths alongside any challenges.
We value and nurture everyone’s gifts and skills, offering meaningful opportunities to express personalities and build self-esteem. Our service is founded on respect, trust, and honesty, ensuring equal opportunities for all.
Our experienced and well-trained staff are supported by an Autism Advisor, Communication Development Workers, Psychologists, and Behavioural Advisors, all bringing a wealth of expertise in working with autistic people.
Understanding the challenges of social interaction for autistic individuals, we help develop social skills both at home and in the community, encouraging practice of new skills in real-life settings.
Autism Profiles
With guidance from our Accomplish Autism Advisor, we have developed detailed Autism profiles for each person we support. These profiles highlight individual strengths and areas where support is needed, summarising diagnostic criteria in a way that is both Autism-focused and person-specific. This allows our staff to deliver truly person-centred and Autism-intelligent support.
Transition Support
Eynesbury House provides a dedicated transition service for young people moving from home, school, or college into adult life. We recognise that transitions can be both exciting and challenging. Our integrated, personalised approach involves working closely with all involved to ensure a smooth, Autism-aware transition.
Each person has a bespoke transition plan to address their individual needs and reduce anxiety about change, making every next step as positive and empowering as possible.
