JP’s Medication Journey at Woodlands

3 Mar 2026

At Woodlands, an Accomplish Service located in the West Midlands, supporting people to have their voices heard and choices respected is central to everything they do. One example of this is JP, who recently worked with staff and her mental health team to review her medication.

JP had been prescribed Clozapine during an earlier period as an inpatient, but she had not been happy with how it made her feel. After a period of time at Woodlands, she asked to return to her previous medication, though her mental health team was initially concerned that a change could impact her well-being. The staff at Woodlands supported JP in exploring her options, working collaboratively with all professionals involved and ensuring she was included at every step of the decision-making process.

Throughout the review, JP was encouraged to share her feelings and preferences. Staff listened carefully, advocated on her behalf, and helped coordinate a safe, structured plan with her mental health team. The goal was to ensure JP felt confident, supported, and in control of her care.

The outcome has been positive as JP is now back on her preferred medication and reports feeling much happier. She reflected on the experience, saying:

“Everyone is lovely. I love it here. It’s a well-managed home.”

Staff at Woodlands have also noted the difference in JP, seeing her feel comfortable, empowered, and heard, has been incredibly rewarding. Her story highlights how collaborative, person-centred care can help adults achieve outcomes that respect their choices while maintaining safety and wellbeing.
