Elstow 1

Elstow 1 is a 6 bed women’s unit providing best practice therapeutic support tailored to the needs of adult Autistic women.  This is our stepdown service from Ashwood Women’s Unit.

We support patients to gain an understanding of their diagnosis, to develop coping strategies and learn how to manage their anxieties.

Many patients have additional conditions such as eating disorders, Epilepsy, etc. Staff have an extensive understanding of these conditions and know how to develop care plans that support the holistic needs of the person.

We offer a specialist service which recognises and understands, that the needs of Autistic women can challenge standard Mental Health services, that do not offer gender specific support. The Therapeutic and Clinical Teams focus on a holistic approach when working with patients and use the Spectrum Star (an outcome measurement tool for people with Autism) and integrated treatment plans to ensure admission objectives are being achieved.
